A coronavirus is a type of virus. As a group, coronaviruses are common across the world. Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
Novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China.
The advise to the public is:
There are three main ways to prevent the spread of the virus or infections:
1 - Maintain Clean Environments
The virus can only survive a short period outside a host. This makes effective and regular cleaning even more important – especially in commercial environments.
The advice from PHE (Public Health England) for medical establishments is to follow cleaning with neutral detergent with a chlorine-based disinfectant, in the form of a solution at a minimum strength of 1,000ppm available chlorine.
Chlorine Tablets 1 tablet in 1 L of water gives 1,000 ppm available chlorine.
A chlorine disinfectant is not always suitable for all areas or particular applications.
Eliminator Extreme, which is a ready to use (RTU) virucidal disinfectant, may be used very effectively on all touch surface areas.
Eliminator Extreme is a non-chlorine based solution and has been independently tested to kill Norovirus with a 5 minute contact time.
Also proven to kill E. Coli, Swine Flu, HIV, Hepatitis C, MRSA & Clostridium difficile.
Passes EN 1276, 13704, 1650, 14476 & 14675.
Eliminator Aerosols also help to reduce infection levels on surfaces by fogging a powerful biocide into the air.
Simply put into the centre of the room, push down cap and exit the room. The can empties itself in 1-2 minutes, leave the room for an hour, then go in and air the room by opening windows/doors.
Kills 99.99% of germs.
2 - Make Hand Hygiene a Priority
Clean hands offer the best personal protection against infection. Frequent handwashing and sanitising with the right products and technique is essential.
Use soap and water to wash hands or an alcohol hand rub if hands are visibly clean.
If are frequently working away from hand washing facilities, or dont have access to water, make sure you have access to alcohol hand sanitiser. Below is an option for a small pump-top bottle or a dispenser system.
3 - Stay at home if sick
Whatever illness you pick up (and you probably won’t contract Wuhan Coronavirus) it’s always best practice to stay away from others to prevent the spread of infection.
